we are a small family run cattery specializing in the selkirk rex, of which we originally imported three to the uk. they are a quiet, fun loving, sweet natured, heavy set cat with a distinctive curly coat. the selkirk rex is still very rare, even in its country of origin the usa. only a handful of breeders exist around the globe making the selkirk rex a very exciting new page in the history of the cat.
since the idea of trueblu and curly selkirk rex was born, we have followed only the highest moral and ethical principals with regard our breeding programme. the surroundings in which we raise our kittens (and their mums and dads) are of the same highest standard. trueblu's kittens & cats have won an unrivaled amount of show prizes some of which can be seen in the hall of fame. the media has been consistently happy to photograph our fine felines too, and you will see on our website many excerpts from various monthly's, some from the uk and some from further a field internationally.
a simple love of cats has meant that enjoyment was the only object of breeding the selkirk rex. we sought recognition for the selkirk rex with the gccf - the main governing body in the uk, and trueblu was one of the three original members to help write the breed policy and standard of points for the selkirk in the uk, our other colleagues being angela mann and linda davison.
my husband and I lived on the south coast of england in west sussex where our cattery made it's start, after several years in the uk we decided to emigrate back to australia, my country of birth. trueblu cats have moved downunder & we have now decided to have a small number of british shorthairs & persians {my first love} in our program also! a big thank you goes to all my good friends who have helped me along the way in the uk - zoe {amazolou}, ann {positively}, pam {mewsos}, pam {curlu}, julie & tony {bluerain}, & jackie {steelaway}...lastly my great friend janet {was witchwillow} - now retired from breeding - who helped look after my cats while i was home visiting in australia. my friends websites can be viewed on my links page.
our cats and kittens are raised in our family home. we feed a quality healthy mixed diet, and use both homeopathy and conventional veterinary care. we are a FIV/FEL-V negative household. our cats are FAB/PKD (kidney) and some HCM (heart) tested where appropriate. cats and kittens are registered. we only breed from cats with sweet loving dispositions and take care to use only well cared for, high quality studs. we reserve the right to sell our kittens to safe loving permanent homes.
